  • About Program

    Geoinformatics is a rapidly emerging academic domain worldwide. In this field, Geographical information systems (GIS) and remote sensing techniques are extensively used for solving real-world problems and complex socioeconomic issues for example: food security, change in climate, water scarcity, city planning, disaster impact assessment and hazard mitigation, adverse health effects, sustainable development.
    This course also focuses on disaster mitigation which includes studies of various natural hazards and disaster risks involved. In this era of application of remote sensing which is proving to be revolutionary in all domains, spatial information plays major role in implication of the disaster management strategies. Therefore, this course places considerable emphasis on remote sensing and GIS. Now days, more importance is being given to the geoinformatics which is expanding at the levels of academic and industrial application because more and more industries are employing spatial data analysts to complete various live projects.

    Every Infrastructural project is initiated and completed with surveying and land mapping which essentially needs application of remote Sensing. However, more experienced and skilled engineers as well as spatial analysts are required in those infrastructural projects.
    This course will provide students wide exposures to various applications of geoinformatics and techniques to reduce vulnerabilities related to natural disasters.
    Job perspectives are diversified but not limited to Scientist, Technical Assistant, Research Associate, GIS Environment Analyst, Project Manager, Image Analyst, GIS Business Analyst, GIS Engineer, Geo-Spatial Software Engineer, etc.
