PhD in Physics

This program is especially designed for those students who want to pursue their career in the research in the challenging areas of core and interdisciplinary fields. The broad areas for research specialization include:

- Nanoscience and nanotechnology
- Soft matter science and nanocolloids
- Electroceramics and multiferroics
- Materials science

This program prepares the students for careers in academic, industrial and government organizations.


Minimum 55% marks or CGPA not less than 6 on scale of 10 in regular M.Sc Physics Degree of a recognised University or equivalent for Ph.D. in Physics or in respective branch . (Not distance or any other mode) GATE/NET qualified students shall be preferred.


  • A total of 17 credits for course work are required to fulfill the PhD requirement.
  • A minimum CGPA of 6.5 is mandatory for the research registration.

Following the completion of Ph.D. Degree in Physics, the student can pursue careers in academic institutions, corporate and national laboratories, and research institutes.

Admission Procedure

Counseling on Merit, based on DIT University Entrance Test-DUET’19 and interview conducted by the University.
