Bachelor of Architecture

  • The program focuses on Globalization, Urbanization, Climate Change and Technology inculcating a culture in Design Thinking, Innovation and Digital Technology in line with the Government’s programs for Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Dynamic start-ups. Our students are trained to:
    1. Become architects not only to design autonomous buildings but also to collaborate a physical environment that is contextual and multilayered.
    2. Engage with the City and its nearby villages on current developmental issues and hence get excellent hands on experience
    3. Locally engage in issues of Global significance:
      • Working in Villages of Uttarakhand (Adopt a Village Mission of the Government):
      • Engage with local communities (Citizen Participation) to understand development related issued
      • Exposure to contribute to bring out its history and culture and empower villagers to earn a sustainable livelihood.
      • Opportunities for students to work with MDDA , Housing and Development, Tourism Department and other local allied organizations on Dehradun Smart City Projects and become informed brand ambassadors of Smart Cities
      • Training in “Hill Architecture”: Sustainable architectural design practice and use of local building material and construction technology in the hills of Himalayas.

 

Duration & Eligibility

BArch – 5 Years

Passed 10+2 with at least 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics and also at least 50% marks in aggregate of the 10+2 level examination or passed 10+3 Diploma Examination with Mathematics as compulsory subject with at least 50% marks in aggregate along with vaild NATA Score.

  • Our constantly evolving syllabus includes a large basket of electives (Fully Flexible Choice Based Credit System) over and above the core subjects with an inter-disciplinary approach to meet the demands and trends of the industry and to minimize the gaps between industry and education.
  • The course is structured in a manner to impart theoretical insights and engaging students in field work, site visits and in Relative Study Programs in the area of Urban studies, Vernacular Architecture, Digital Technology (AR/VR), Conservation of Heritage, Earthquake and Flood resistance construction techniques, Energy Efficiency and Sustainable development.
  • Highly experienced (nationally and internationally), skilled and energetic faculty from varied areas of specialization are onboard who impart their invaluable knowledge and experience.
  • Training workshops are conducted for students to provide hands on experience on latest design software like REVIT, Sketch up, AutoCAD, Illustrator, Grasshopper and Rhino etc.
  • Guest lectures are regularly conducted by renowned academicians and eminent architects.
  • Students are encouraged to participate in various architectural competitions hosted by NASA and Zonal NASA.
  • Students are encouraged to become entrepreneurs. They organize Diwali Exhibitions every year and make products from recyclable material based on 3R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). The products are put on sale and the funds collected are donated for a social cause their choice.

Program Educational Objectives

PEO1 Graduates will be able to apply the knowledge in the field of architecture to pursue higher studies and career in architecture consultancy.
PEO2 Graduates will become socially responsible and environmentally conscious architects.
PEO3 Graduates will develop the leadership capabilities and will be able to contribute in multidisciplinary teams.
PEO4 Graduates will be able to demonstrate the professional attitude with ethical responsibility and effective communicating skills.
PEO5 Graduates will be able to apply appropriate techniques and technologies in the field of Architecture.

Outcomes of the Program

PO1 Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, art and architecture fundamentals to the solution of built environment related problems.
PO2 Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyse complex design problems reaching substantiated conclusions using principles of design, natural sciences, and building sciences.
PO3 Design/ Development of Solutions: Solutions for design problems and design building components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO4 Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including case studies, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
PO5 Modern Tool Usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern drafting tools including building information modeling with an understanding of the limitations.
PO6 Architect & Society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional architectural practice.
PO7 Environment and Sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional building solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
PO8 Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the Architect’s Act 1972.
PO9 Individual and Team Work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
PO10 Communication: Communicate effectively on complex professional activities with the architecture fraternity and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
PO11 Project Management and Finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
