  • About Program

    The B.Tech Petroleum Engineering program as taught at the DIT University has the right blend of advanced technology, management, applied science and humanities. The program aims to provide advanced teaching to the students to enable them to create and apply innovative technologies in upstream operations in the petroleum industry like drilling, production and reservoir engineering and downstream operation like refining of crude oil and processing of petrochemicals & efficiently utilize their knowledge and skills to find solutions of any industry related problem. The program has a strong E-learning component offering a sufficient range of electives delivered by experts and eminent academicians of our University. The course is designed for anyone with a passion for exploring innovative things in engineering & technology and is looking for a potential future professional career in the oil and gas sector. It is aimed at any student who wishes to develop his/her skills in engineering fields mainly in upstream (production engineering, reservoir engineering, drilling technology, offshore oil and gas operations), midstream (oil and gas transportation) and downstream (petroleum refining and petrochemicals). A candidate should have a strong background in Mathematics and different sciences such as Chemistry and Physics.

Minimum 60% marks in X Std & aggregate 60% marks in XII Std and minimum 60% in Physics Chemistry Maths English/Physics Maths Bio English/Physics Maths English Computer.

  • The program offers 2 elective courses in VII and VIII Semester
  • 1 minor Industrial training (compulsory to all – 6 weeks break between VIth and VIIth semester)
  • 1 major Industrial internship (Optional – 6 months in VIIIth semester),

  • 1 minor project of 1 semester in VIth Semester
  • 1 major project of 2 semester duration starting VIIth Semester
  • The program offers upstream software based training to the students
  • The program accounts for interdisciplinary development as well
  • The Program witnesses about 20+ research articles either published or presented at International or National Conferences every year from the students
  • The students participate and win various National and International levels events (SPE, Petrotech, WPCC etc) of academic and co-curricular in nature at industry and academia alike

The BTech program in Petroleum Engineering deals with new paradigms in Petroleum Engineering. It offers flexible credit based courses for diversified teaching-learning processes. It provides teaching and learning on Industry relevant courses in cutting edge technology areas of Petroleum Engineering. It has active participation of Industries in teaching-learning process through industry visits & guest speakers. Modern laboratories with latest equipment are the integral component of this program.

Outcomes of the Program

PO1 Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO2 Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO3 Design/ Development of Solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO4 Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
