Bachelor of Pharmacy (4 Years)

  • About the Program

    The Faculty of Pharmacy is recognized by the Govt. of Uttarakhand & approved by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), New Delhi, a statutory body governed by the provision of the pharmacy act 1948. Bachelor degree in pharmacy is an art and science of preparing, manufacturing, marketing and dispensing medicines. The curriculum provides soft skills, value added training and professional practice skills in addition to the curriculum recommended by PCI. The theory classes are supported by learning in laboratories, practice school, and industry. The faculty of pharmacy has highly qualified, experienced and research-oriented faculty who ignite inbuilt abilities & potentialities in students and prepare highly competent Pharmacists who can serve in different responsible positions in India and outside.
  • Higher Education

    The students can pursue master’s degree in various specialization like- Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy, etc. They can also pursue their MS in various international Universities in Pharmaceutical management. One can also pursue their master’s degree and MBA in hospital administration & MBA in Pharmaceutical international business.

Minimum 50% marks in XII Std. with Physics, Chemistry, and either of Mathematics or Biology as the mandatory subjects and English as compulsory subject

Prospects

Upon graduation they can pursue Master’s degree in various specialization in India and outside. The graduates will have opportunities to work in government sector as Drug Inspector, Food Inspector, Hospital Pharmacist, junior chemist/scientist, etc. In private sector especially in Pharmaceutical and health care industries they can work in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Pharmaceutical Marketing, Research & Development, Formulation & Development, Pharmacovigilance, Regulatory affairs besides working as community pharmacist.

Program Educational Objectives

PEO1 Graduate will be able to analyze and solve challenges in manufacturing, marketing and business of drugs and pharmaceuticals.
PEO2 Graduate will be practicing the pharmacy ethically and professionally in community, clinical, hospital and industrial pharmacy setups nationally and globally.
PEO3 Graduate will exhibit qualities to be a successful entrepreneur and a leader in a professional team.

Outcomes of the Program

PO1 Knowledge:
a. Fundamental knowledge: Demonstrate basic knowledge of biology, mathematics, human body, chemistry, dosage forms, pathophysiology, environment, communication and computer application.
b. Applied knowledge: Exhibit ability to apply knowledge of pharmacology, herbal technology, chemistry, microbiology, biochemistry, pharmaceutics, engineering, industry, biotechnology and statistics.
c. Advanced Knowledge: Demonstrate knowledge of pharmaceutical marketing, pharmacovigilance, molecular biology, cosmetics, instrumentation techniques, dietary supplements, experimental pharmacology, drug design and regulatory science.
PO2 Aptitude: Extend service as an expert in pharmaceutical industries, marketing, patient care, drug & dosage form development, patient counselling, herbal medicines and use of technologies in pharmaceutical sciences.
PO3 Skill:Demonstrate skills required for instrumental analysis, herbal technology, drug action, chemistry of drug action, industrial pharmacy, aspects of pathogen, biochemical process, engineering of dosage form preparations and human physiology.
PO4 Professionalism:Exhibit professional commitment to carry out responsibilities with honesty and integrity.
PO5 Self-learning: Demonstrate ability to be a life-long learner through project works, learning from experience and learning by doing
PO6 Ethical Values: Exhibit human values towards community, society, environment and practice pharmacy profession legally and ethically.
PO7 Leadership: Demonstrate ability to take up challenges in health care sector independently and in team, ability to build team, maintain team spirit, group leadership qualities.
PO8 Community service: Show dedication and commitment to the society in improving health and wellness through preventive measures, identifying pathogens, recommending herbal & dietary supplements, educating patient & carers and protection of environment.

PO10 Entrepreneurship: Develop strategies to establish, manage, and market medicine store in the community, hospitals and clinics in compliance with regulatory authorities independently or joint or franchise the chain pharmacy.
PO11 Research: Design and develop a hypothesis and test it in community, hospital, clinical and pharmacy practice based independently or in group and statistically analyse the data to derive conclusion and recommendation.
PO12 Systems based approach: Demonstrate an awareness of and responsiveness to be larger system of health care and demonstrate the skills needed to improve the health of specific populations
