    Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma is presently working as Associate Professor in the Faculty of Pharmacy, DIT University. He joined the University on 15th July 2006 as Lecturer and was subsequently promoted as Senior Lecturer in 2010, Assistant Professor-II in 2011, Assistant Professor-I in 2021, and later to his current position. He has more than 20 years of teaching and research experience. He obtained his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Uttarakhand Technical University in 2015 under the supervision of Prof. (Dr.) A.K. Sharma, Ex-Vice Chancellor, SBS University, Ex-Principal, Eritrea Pharmacy College, Govt. of Eritrea, Asmara, and Ex-HOD, BITS Ranchi. He completed his M.Pharm. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Bundelkhand University, Jhansi in 2006, and his B.Pharm. from H.N.B. Garhwal University in 2001. He qualified GATE in 2003. His research interests include colon-targeted drug delivery and synthetic medicinal chemistry, and he is recognized as an expert in the field of synthetic chemistry.

    He has served the profession in multiple academic and leadership capacities. Currently, he is the President of APTI Uttarakhand for a five-year term (2022 onwards). He earlier served as Vice President of APTI Uttarakhand (2016–2022), State Coordinator of APTI (2008–2011 and 2012–2015), Secretary of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), and Treasurer of the Association of Community Pharmacists of India (ACPI). He was Convener of APTICON 2019, the first ever organized in Uttarakhand, and served as Judge for poster evaluation in APTICON 2018. He has also been appointed as Alternate Member Secretary of the Research Ethical Committee for Biomedical, Physical and Health Sciences at DIT University in 2021.

    Dr. Sharma has been the recipient of several awards and recognitions including Best Oral Presentation Award at AIMST University, Malaysia (2019), Young Pharma Leader Award, Outstanding Teacher Award, Academician of the Year Award, Teacher of the Year Award, and multiple Certificates of Appreciation for his contributions in teaching, research, and community service. He received appreciation from DATRI Club for successfully organizing a Blood Stem Cell Donation Camp. He has been invited as Session Chair, Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, Resource Person, and Adjudicator in several prestigious national and international conferences.

    Academically, he has published 25 research and review papers in reputed national and international journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. He has authored two books including Medicinal Chemistry-I and one book chapter. He has filed seven patents, of which three are granted and four are published. He has presented 10 research papers at international conferences and 11 at national conferences, and has delivered more than 100 invited talks, webinars, and symposia. He has supervised two Ph.D. candidates (awarded) and is currently guiding one Ph.D. scholars along with several M.Pharm. students. He also served as Co-Principal Investigator in a Seed Grant Project entitled “Design and Development of Ligands for Different Molecular Targets Implicated in Mycobacterium tuberculosis” funded by DIT University. He has mentored six students under the CSIR-SRTP programme.

    Dr. Sharma has successfully completed numerous certificate courses offered by reputed international universities such as the University of London, University of Manchester, University of California, University of Pittsburgh, and others through MOOCs including NPTEL and Coursera. He has also actively participated in FDPs, QIPs, Workshops, and training programmes. He has served as observer, paper setter, and examiner in various national and international universities.

    He possesses expertise in handling advanced laboratory instruments such as HPLC, UV-Visible Spectrophotometer, FT-IR, Flame Photometer, Dissolution Apparatus, Conductometer, and Colorimeter. He is proficient in ChemDraw and experienced in molecular docking studies using Maestro (Schrödinger), PyRx, and SwissDock.

    Dr. Sharma is a Life Member of APTI, IPA, and FHER. He has been actively involved in institutional responsibilities including coordination of the UG programme, Aarogya Club, and participation in AICTE, NAAC, UGC, and PCI visits. He is also a motivator and has a deep interest in literature, with a hobby of reciting and writing poems.
