    M.Sc. in Physics is a program to train and equip students to become skilled and specialized in vast discipline of Physics and Electronics. The program creates job opportunities in different Universities, Govt. organizations and corporate industries in India and aboard. The jobs in R&D sectors of different industries as Materials Scientist, Device Physicist, IP-Analyst and many others are lucrative for M.Sc. graduates. The students may also opt to pursue their academic career for Ph.D. in physics and cross disciplinary areas.

BSc (H) Physics(50%),BSc Physics(50%) with 55% in Physics

Minimum 50% marks in XII Std. or its equivalent examination in any stream conducted by a recognized Board/ University/ Council with Physics, Chemistry & Maths as Mandatory Subjects.

Program Educational Objectives

After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in sciences, an advanced M.Sc in physics in India will provide an opportunity for students to specialize in one of the many interdisciplinary fields of research. One of the areas is electronics, where the Department is offering a M.Sc. in Physics in India with specialization in electronics. It is expected to provide job opportunities for the students in Research and Developmental Organizations as well as in MNC’s, teaching, industry etc. Apart from studying the core courses this program will provide an opportunity to study computer courses, value added training and one semester dissertation work so as to prepare the student from campus to corporate world. This program has been designed to give a hands on experience to the students that will help them in acquiring skills needed either for taking up a job or pursue research thereafter.

Program Specific Outcomes: M.Sc. Physics with Specialization in Electronics
PSO1 Proficiency in applying physics to understand a phenomenon: Understanding the basic concepts of physics particularly concepts in classical mechanics, quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics, condensed matter physics, electrodynamics and electronics and to appreciate how diverse phenomena observed in nature follow from a small set of fundamental laws through logical and mathematical reasoning.
PSO2 Capable of handling Advanced Instrumentation: Learn to carry out experiments in basic as well as certain advanced areas of physics such as condensed matter physics, atomic and molecular physics, nanoscience and electronics.
PSO3 Use of theoretical knowledge and mathematical techniques: Apply theoretical knowledge of principles and concepts of physics to practical problems and use of mathematical techniques to solve problems in physics.
PSO4 Be lifelong learners: As in present day electronics is essential for comprehending any man-made control phenomenon, the focus on physics in the arena of electronics will enable to understand the science behind such control systems and ease the lifelong learning experience of an individuals.
