Program Educational Objectives

PEO1 Apply the scientific knowledge of physicsto help understand various pertinent aspects of nature.
PEO2 To identify, formulate, and analyse advanced scientific problems and reach justified conclusions using principles of basic and applied sciences.
PEO3 Propose and validate solutions for advanced scientific problems and system components or processes.
PEO4 To enable understanding of the importance of the need and have the pertinent preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning of sciences.

Outcomes of the Program

PO1 To acquire an understanding of selected areas of physics at the frontiers of knowledge, beyond the undergraduate level.
PO2 To introduce interdisciplinary subjects, concepts and ideas to understand and investigate interdisciplinary areas where concepts of physics are relevant.
PO3 To provide first-hand perspectives in advanced ideas and techniques required in emerging areas of physics.
PO4 To develop skills to provide enrolled students specialization in theoretical and experimental techniques required for career in academia, industry and research & development.
PO5 To experience undertaking a major, individual, physics-related project and reporting the results in a scientific report and thereafter giving oral presentations.
PO6 To communicate confidently and constructively on scientific activities with scientific community and with society at large, such as, being able to write effective reports, make presentations and to give and receive clear instructions.
PO7 To apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics, responsibilities and norms in the society.
PO8 To encourage creative and critical thinking thereby generating and developing new knowledge, products, materials or methods for the benefits of mankind.

Program Specific Outcome

PSO1 To understand the basic concepts of physics particularly concepts in classical mechanics, quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics, condensed matter physics, electrodynamics and electronics and to appreciate how diverse phenomena observed in nature follow from a small set of fundamental laws through logical and mathematical reasoning.
PSO2 To learn to carry out experiments in basic as well as certain advanced areas of physics such as condensed matter physics, atomic and molecular physics, nanoscience and electronics.
PSO3 To apply theoretical knowledge of principles and concepts of physics to practical problems and use of mathematical techniques to solve problems in physics.
PSO4 To become a life long learner, as in present day electronics is essential for comprehending any man-made control phenomenon, the focus on physics in the arena of electronics will enable to understand the science behind such control systems and ease the lifelong learning experience of an individuals.
