    At the Department of Electrical and Electronics & Communication Engineering, we are a bunch of highly enthusiastic faculties preparing the young aspiring engineers through sheer diligence. With our vision of creating engineering technocrats for addressing the global challenge, we aim towards restlessly imparting in-depth knowledge to our learners.

    We comprehend well enough the significance of right education and thus leave no chance towards initiating innovative teaching and learning methods. To us, the holistic growth of our mentees remains at upfront, guiding them to attain academic excellence. Alongside, as career opportunities are widening rapidly in the present working environment, the significance of practical knowledge remains unmoved. Therefore, we are well equipped with modernized laboratories covering almost all sub-disciplines of Electronics & Communication Engineering and Electrical Engineering to impart the best of industry skills.

  • Profile

    The Mentor: Dr. Sonika Singh, Associate Professor & HOD

    The alumnus of Mumbai University, 1998. Holding her Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication Engineering, she is mentoring the young minds at DIT University to leverage the most in this field.

    Dr. Sonika authored a book on ‘Solid State Devices & Circuit’ in 2004 and proudly owns the publication of more than thirty papers in Conference Proceedings and International Journals. With a vision of preparing the most sought-after engineers for the country, her research accolades stand as a strong testament to the efforts she is putting towards making her each lecture a super enthralling and enlightening interaction.

    She proudly walks along an exceptional experience of more than twenty-one years, rendering additional administrative responsibilities at DIT University. She acts as a significant member of several university-centric committees, while chairing Board of Studies for School of Architecture, Board of Studies for MCA and Board of Studies for Physics as an External Member.

    While her research interests include Mobile Satellite Systems, Photonics and Channel modelling in Wireless Communication Systems, Dr. Sonika is guiding our Ph.D. scholars of EECE Department. She is also the Founder Chairperson of ICEIT (Institution of Communication Engineers and Information Technologists) and has been conferred with the Certificate of Appreciation for meritorious contribution as Chairperson, ICEIT. She is also the mentor for NPTEL Online Certification Courses in EECED.

  • About the Department

    The program focuses on Globalization, Digitization, Design, Development, Analysis & Application of Electronics & Communication Technology inculcating a culture in Automation, Futuristic Communication and Digital Technology in line with the Government’s programs like “DIGITAL INDIA” for Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Dynamic start-ups.

    Our students are trained to:

    • Become Technocrats not only to design futuristic technologies but also to collaborate a technical environment that is contextual and multilayered for development of country.
    • Engage with the societal needs on current developmental issues and hence get excellent hands on experience in developing real time products.
    • Our constantly evolving syllabus includes a large basket of electives (Fully Flexible Choice Based Credit System) over and above the core subjects with an inter-disciplinary approach to meet the demands and trends of the industry and to minimize the gaps between industry and education.
    • The course is structured in a manner to impart theoretical insights and engaging students in practical work, industrial visits and in Real time industry projects in the area of Broadband Communication, Fiber Optic Communication, Wireless Sensors Network Development, Optics and Photonic Devices, Wearable Technology, Low power VLSI design, Digital Technology, Body to Body Communication, Bio-Sensor Development.


  • SCOPE AND OVERVIEW of B.Tech. in ECE

  •  

    • India has the potential to create a $1 trillion digital economy by 2025, benefiting all sector and people.
    • Indian Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) industry is one of the fastest growing sectors in the country.
    • Changing global landscapes in electronics design and manufacturing capabilities, and cost structures have turned the attention of global companies towards India.
    • Domestic production can cater to a demand of only $100 Bn by 2020… demand-supply gap of $300 Bn.
    • Presently, the number of daily active internet users has reached 300 million from 10-15 million daily users. Also, it is estimated that the number would more than double by the year 2021.


  • Presently the departments offers two UG programs namely B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering and B.Tech in Electrical Engineering. The department also offers two PG programs namely M.Tech. in Electronics & Communication Engineering and M.Tech. in Electrical Engineering. The UG/PG programs in the disciplines of Electronics & Communication Engineering cover the cutting edge technologies such as integrated electronics,

    Mobile/Satellite Communication, Embedded / IoT (Internet of things) systems. Similarly UG/PG programs in Electrical Engineering cover the advanced and state of the art technologies in the area of Power Systems, Power electronics, Electrical Machines and Control & Automation. The department also offers Ph.D. programs in Electronics & Communication Engineering and Electrical Engineering. Department provides the holistic education to provide a sound academic and technical infrastructure augmented with extra-curricular facilities to ensure the all-round development of the students.

  • Beside the regular course curriculum the department offers the Value Added Training, Aptitude Building program, Soft Skills training, Foreign Language Courses & Industrial visits to enhance the employability of the students.

Laboratories

  • Project Lab

    Project lab aims to enable the students to get familiar and experience various electronics and electrical hardware tools through hands-on mode. Here students learn to work with basic circuit designing equipment like soldering iron, drilling machine, component selection and mounting and will end this lab in a project module. This lab is also about testing the circuits, troubleshooting the working errors and studying their computational complexities. The high-end lab facilities in project lab consists of PCB Prototype Machine, 20 MHz Digital Storage Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyser, Wireless In-site Pro Module, Academic License of MATLAB.

    Developing the solid foundations in the basic concepts of electronics and electronics components, their specification and circuit designing. Thus, to train the students how to select components for a desired circuit, study data sheets and design circuits in hardware.

  • Basic Electrical Engineering Lab

    It is common to all engineering students of first year to understand them about the basic concepts of various types of machines, generations of electricity, transmission and its distribution. In this lab students of first year perform experiments related to topics taught in theory like superposition theorem, nortons theorem, thevenin’s theorem, open circuit and short circuit test of single phase transformers, speed control technique of DC machine, speed reversal of induction motor etc.

  • Electrical Machines Lab

    This lab consist of number of machines on which students of second and third year perform experiments related to topics taught in theory.

    2. alternator-2 kVA, 1500 rpm, 415 ac, 220 volt dc, 2.8 amp, pf-0.8

  • Measurement & Instrumentation Lab

    This lab consists of experiments related to measurement like Owens bridge, Wheatstone bridge, Kelvin’s double bridge, RTD, thermocouple, thermistor, etc. on which students performed experiments related to topics taught in theory and learn how to compute electrical quantities in different type of industries.

  • Networks Lab

    This lab consists of various type of instruments which helps the student to understand electrical network problem solving methods experimentally.

  • Control System Lab

    This lab consists of experiments performed on control system like position controller.

    4. Analog PID controller kit
    5. Linear simulator unit

  • Power System Lab

    This lab consists of different relays like Differential relay, Overcurrent relay, Thermal relay, Instantaneous overcurrent relay, single line to ground fault analysis, three phase to ground fault analysis on which students of final year perform experiments related to topics studied in power system.

    1. Experimental setup for A,B,C,D parameters, Hybrid parameters
    2. Percentage differential relay kit

    Power Electronics Lab

    This lab consists of experimental setups on which students of third year perform experiments related to topics studied in power electronics like half bridge rectifier, full bridge rectifier, half wave converter, full wave converter, inverter and as simulation experiments performed by Power Simulation software.

  • Electric Drives Lab

    In this lab experimental setups on which students of final year perform experiments related to topics studied in electric drives like speed control of d.c. motor, speed control of a.c. motor, etc.

    2. Induction motor 5 HP, 230volt,50Hz,2.25 A, single phase , 1340rpm

  • Computer & simulation Lab

    This lab basically consists of about 20 computers on which various simulation softwares like Multisim, PSIM, Dapper, LabView and MATLAB have been installed. These softwares are being used by the students of second, third and final year students for lab as well as project work.

  • Electrical Drives Lab (M.Tech)

    This lab has been established especially for the students of M.Tech (Power Electronics & Drives) and its consists of experimental setups for controlling various types of drives like d.c. and a.c. etc.
