Dr. Ravi Kumar Shukla is the Dean, Faculty Affairs and Professor & Head, Department of Physics at DIT University, Dehradun. He brings over 12 years of teaching experience and more than 20 years of research experience in the field of advanced functional and soft materials. He holds an M.Sc. in Physics, an M.Tech. in Materials Science, and a Ph.D. from Thapar University, Patiala, and completed his postdoctoral research at the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany.
His research interests include lyotropic and ferroelectric liquid crystals, nano-colloids and emulsion systems, nanostructured materials, graphene-based liquid crystals, and dye degradation and sequestration technologies. He has led research projects funded by SERB–DST, DRDO, UGC–CSR–DAE, and DST-WISE.
Dr. Shukla has published nearly 90 papers in reputed international journals, holds 21 patents (including 2 granted), and has authored around 30 conference papers. His work has received over 1,500 citations, with an h-index of 23 and an i10-index of 47. He has supervised six Ph.D. scholars, is currently guiding two doctoral candidates and a postdoctoral fellow, and serves as a reviewer for leading agencies and publishers including the National Science Center, Poland, DST India, Elsevier, ACS, IOP, AIP, RSC, Taylor & Francis, and Springer.
An inspiring teacher and dedicated educator, Dr. Shukla has actively contributed to teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. He is deeply committed to nurturing young minds, fostering scientific curiosity, and creating an environment that encourages innovation and lifelong learning. Through his mentorship, numerous students and researchers have successfully pursued higher studies, research careers, and professional opportunities in India and abroad, including the USA, France, Germany, and other leading scientific destinations.
A multiple-time recipient of the Best Researcher Award at DIT University, Dr. Shukla was also honored with the Silver Medal Award by the Indian Liquid Crystal Society. He is a member of the Materials Research Society of India and the Indian Liquid Crystal Society. As Dean, Faculty Affairs, he is dedicated to advancing faculty excellence, strengthening research culture, and promoting academic innovation at DIT University.
