Dr. Hemraj Saini is a Professor and Dean in the School of Computing and also serves as the Dean of Research & Innovation at DIT University, Dehradun, India. With over 27 years of experience spanning academia, administration, and industry, he has made significant contributions to the growth and development of the University. Prior to his current role, he served as the Dean of Research & Consultancy at DIT University. Dr. Saini's research interests include Information Security, Cybersecurity, Edge Computing, and Cloud Computing. He has successfully supervised 11 Ph.D. scholars to completion and is currently guiding six more research scholars at various reputed universities across India. He is an active member of several professional and scientific organizations, including IEEE, ACM, and IAENG. He also serves as an editor, editorial board member, and reviewer for numerous reputed international journals and conferences published by Springer, Elsevier (ScienceDirect), IEEE, Wiley, IGI Global, and Bentham Science, among others. In addition, he is a regular resource person and invited speaker at national and international workshops, faculty development programmes, and conferences. Dr. Saini has authored and co-authored more than 180 research publications in reputed national and international journals and conference proceedings. He has also served as the General Chair of several prestigious international conferences, including ICIIP 2015, PDGC 2020, and ISED 2023, contributing significantly to the advancement of research and innovation in computing and allied disciplines.
The Dean of Research and Innovation (R&I) is dedicated to fostering a culture of creativity and excellence in both basic and applied research. Strong institutional support is provided for high-quality publications in reputed journals, along with facilitation of patent filing to promote impactful translational research. Emerging research areas are continuously identified, and interdisciplinary as well as collaborative projects are effectively coordinated. The progress of PhD scholars is regularly monitored while ensuring adherence to the highest ethical and regulatory standards. The vision is to strengthen the University’s research profile through enhanced interdisciplinary collaboration and global engagement. A sustained commitment is maintained towards advancing knowledge, nurturing talent, and creating meaningful societal impact through research and innovation.
The Dean of the School of Computing at DIT University provides strategic academic and administrative leadership to ensure excellence in education, student development, and institutional growth. The role encompasses academic planning, curriculum design and implementation, faculty mentoring, student progression, accreditation, quality assurance, admissions, and industry engagement. By strengthening academic programmes, enhancing employability, fostering industry collaborations, supporting faculty development, and ensuring effective governance, the Dean plays a pivotal role in advancing the School of Computing as a leading centre for computing education and producing skilled professionals equipped to meet the evolving demands of the technology sector.
