Dr. Dolon Banerjee
  • Brief Profile

Dr. Dolon Banerjee joined the Department of Civil Engineering at DIT University as an Assistant Professor in March 2026, bringing expertise in hydrology and Artificial Intelligence–driven water systems modelling. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from IIT Ropar, where his research focused on developing hybrid physics-guided and machine learning frameworks for groundwater and hydrological forecasting. He completed his M.Tech as a Gold Medalist and has consistently qualified GATE with distinction. Dr. Banerjee’s research centres on groundwater recharge forecasting, spatio-temporal evapotranspiration modelling, climate change impact assessment, and interpretable AI applications in water resources engineering. His work has been published in leading international journals, including Journal of Hydrology: Regional Studies and Water Resources Management, and he has presented his research at premier global platforms such as the American Geophysical Union (AGU) and the European Geosciences Union (EGU). Prior to joining DIT University, he served as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at IIT Roorkee and IIT Delhi, where he further advanced collaborative research in hydrological modelling and data-driven environmental systems. Alongside his research contributions, Dr. Banerjee is deeply committed to innovative teaching and mentoring, fostering analytical thinking and research-driven learning among students.
