Faculty 

Dr. Sudhanshu Mishra is a highly accomplished forensic biologist and geneticist with strong expertise in DNA forensics, wildlife forensics, population genetics, and environmental metagenomics. He is currently serving in the Faculty of Forensic Sciences, Chemistry Department, School of Physical Sciences, DIT University, Dehradun.

Prior to joining DIT University, Dr. Mishra served as an Assistant Professor at the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Delhi Campus, India’s premier forensic institution. He has also held faculty positions at Apeejay Stya University, Gurugram, and Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, bringing rich teaching and institutional experience into the classroom.

Dr. Mishra holds Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Biotechnology, with specialization in DNA Forensics. His doctoral research was conducted at the Wildlife Forensic Laboratory, Wildlife Institute of India (WII-MoEFFC), Dehradun, where he worked on advanced Forensic genetic profiling of Bengal tiger populations using non-invasive samples.

He was awarded the prestigious ARCHIMEDES European Fellowship, enabling him to conduct Ph.D. research at the University of Tartu, Estonia, ranked among the top 1% universities worldwide. Following his Ph.D., he pursued Post-Doctoral Research at Sichuan Agricultural University, China, focusing on NGS-based metagenomics, forensic genetics, and gut microbiome analysis.

Dr. Mishra has received multiple international awards and competitive travel grants from globally reputed scientific bodies including the Burroughs Wellcome Fund (USA), Genetics Society of America, FEMS (Spain), Society for Conservation Biology (Canada), University of Michigan (USA), University of Queensland (Australia), Peking University (China), and SMBE (Japan). He has delivered invited talks at national and international platforms, serves as a reviewer for reputed journals, and has published extensively in high-impact peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Mishra is the member of several national & international scientific societies.

At DIT University, Dr. Mishra teaches and mentors students in a wide range of topics including Forensic Biology & Biotechnology, DNA Forensics, Wildlife Forensics, Microbial Forensics, Forensic Chemistry & Explosives, Forensic Anthropology, Human Genetics, Molecular Biology, Metagenomics, Forensic Statistics, Research Methodology, and Computational Genomics, equipping students with advanced, job-ready forensic skills.


Dr. Minakshi Rajput is an accomplished microbiologist whose expertise significantly strengthens the forensic toxicology, microbial forensics, environmental forensics, and crime scene investigation components of the M.Sc. Forensic Science program at DIT University.

She earned her Ph.D. in Microbiology from the Department of Botany and Microbiology, Gurukula Kangri (Deemed to be University), Haridwar, after completing her M.Sc. from Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya and her Bachelor’s degree from Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, Srinagar, Uttarakhand.

Dr. Rajput has qualified several prestigious national competitive examinations, including CSIR–UGC NET JRF, GATE, and ASRB NET, reflecting her strong academic foundation and research competence. Before joining DIT University in November 2025, she served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology, School of Applied and Life Sciences, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun.

She is a recipient of the highly reputed Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Travel Award, awarded by the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) for ASM Microbe 2025, Los Angeles, USA, underscoring her international research recognition.

Dr. Rajput’s research interests span a broad interdisciplinary spectrum including antimicrobial resistance (AMR), microbial forensics, metagenomics, analysis of environmental and biological samples, phytochemical profiling of medicinal plants, and microbial metabolism - areas increasingly critical in forensic investigations involving poisoning, contamination, biodegradation, and bio-trace evidence.

She has authored and co-authored several research papers in reputed international journals and has actively participated in numerous national and international conferences, seminars, and workshops.
