About the School

School of Physical Sciences (SOPS) which includes Departments of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

We offer variety of courses, namely, Bachelor of Science B.Sc. (Mathematics), B.Sc. (Statistics), B.Sc. (Chemistry), B.Sc. (Physics), B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics with Research, B.Sc. (Hons.) Statistics with Research, B.Sc. (Hons.) Physics with Research, B.Sc. (Hons.) Chemistry with Research, Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Mathematics, Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Physics with specialization in Electronics, and Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry and Ph.D. Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

The School of Physical Sciences is unique from other institutions of higher learning as it is committed to imparting knowledge in pure and applied sciences which not only forms the foundation for further academic pursuits in science and technology but also acts as the foundation for students to pursue a career in multi facet directions. We follow fully flexible choice-based credit system (FFCBCS) . The course structure is based on New Education Policy (NEP) which gives ample opportunities to a student to choose subjects of his choice to build his own path towards his career goals. The academic programmes are designed to ensure that they include latest technological developments and there is ample scope of hands-on training and project-based learning, and our students get adequate exposure to develop interdisciplinary approach to work upon cutting edge research areas. Under the able guidance and mentorship of our faculty members who are experts in their own domain, we emphasize on an overall development of our students to make them ready to meet the ever-growing challenges of the global society.

SoPS has well-equipped laboratories for Physics, Organic and Inorganic chemistry for Graduate, Post-Graduate and PhD level students. In addition, we have dedicated Centres of Excellence, focusing on Advanced Functional Smart Materials, Materials and Nano Engineering Research, Land Air Water; and one Mathematics Learning Centre. The research and teaching contributions are being published in international journals of repute and have been widely acknowledged worldwide. Most students graduating from SoPS are well placed in academics and industry. Several faculty members have received prestigious awards and are elected fellows of renowned scientific academies.

Dean's Message

Welcome to the School of Physical Sciences at DIT University.

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the School of Physical Sciences where we strive for excellence in teaching and research in science. As the Dean of the esteemed school, I am proud to lead a team of dedicated faculty members and staff who are committed to ensuring that our students receive a quality education through experiential learning that prepares them to address real world problems and achieve success in their personal and professional life.

School of Physical Sciences is committed to inclusive excellence in research and teaching by providing the most vibrant environment by inculcating human values, ethics, world-class research culture and innovation. We believe that finding answers to real-world problems require a conducive environment, well-planned teamwork, experiential learning, and multiple perspectives from the experts from different domains.

Our academic programs are widely accepted and acknowledged by experts from both academia and industry. All the faculty members hold PhD degree from the premier institutes in India, and most of them are having post-doc experience from the best of the institutes across the globe. Their expertise won laurels for the university in terms of extramural research projects and research publications in highly reputed international journals.

The well-designed curriculum, able faculty members, world class infrastructure, research facilities and the student-centric approach, all contribute to prepare our students to achieve their personal and professional goals. In addition, in SoPS, we have the Science Club & the Research Club which provide the platform for UG, PG and PhD students to interact with the experts and work together to explore their potentials in various directions through activities such as seminars, symposium, poster presentations, debate, quiz competitions.
