Research Interest
Dr. Manas Ranjan Dash is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at DIT University. Prior to joining DIT, He worked as an Ad-hoc Faculty at NIT Raipur (2019-2021), Post-Doctoral Fellow at Max Planck Institute for Chemistry, Mainz, Germany (2016-2019), National Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan (2014-2015). He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras in 2014 and M.Sc in Chemistry from Sambalpur University in 2008. His current research interest areas are gas phase kinetics, radical measurements, laser Induced fluorescence (LIF), computational chemistry, kinetic modelling of atmospheric and combustion reaction system.
Dr. Dash’s research highlights are (1) Experimental and computational studies on gas phase reaction kinetics of biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOCs) with atmospheric oxidants (OH and Cl). (2) Developed and characterized an airborne OH reactivity instrument based on the pump probe technique. (3) Numerical simulation of RO2 radical reactions in atmospheric chemistry by the CAABA/MECCA model. (4) Participated in AQABA (Air Quality and Climate Change in the Arabian Basin)-2017 ship campaign for OH and HO2 radical measurements. The vessel travelled from Toulon to Kuwait and back around the Arabian Peninsula. (5) Spectroscopic studies of Criegee intermediates (CIs) + SO2 reaction using step scan-FT-IR.
