DIT University in association with the Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) hosted a Bharatanatyam recital by renowned Padma Shri Geeta Chandran Ji. The two hours long performance by the artist mesmerized the audience.
Geeta ji started the performance with an eye catching piece titled ‘Puspanjali”. She then danced on the Vocal of Vande Mataram followed by another solo paying tribute to Mirabai. In between her performance she also explained the terms associated with Bharatanatyam. The main highlight of the performance was the episode of ‘Krishna Leela’ in which Geeta ji through her ‘bhavas’ and ‘mudras’ recapture the mischievous activity of Krishna as a child. The enthralled audience exploded with applause. The audience were spell bound by the performance and could not tale their eye off the stage. The facial expression, mudras, sculptors poses, music everything was so beautiful.
