As a part of the curriculum, the students of B. Architecture, 2nd-year batch 2023-28 batch had to conduct a case study and documentation of a typical small scale settlement in village to understand the evolution of design, local climate, topography, life style, culture and the material and construction techniques used in making the vernacular houses in that particular region.
The students conducted a comprehensive documentation of Corn village. They delved into its geographical features, cultural practices, population demographics, traditional festivals, and the daily lives of its inhabitants. By examining the heritage buildings, they gained an understanding of the village's architectural evolution, particularly the climate-adaptive construction techniques employed over 200 years ago. Furthermore, they analysed the spatial arrangement of indoor and outdoor public areas, gaining valuable insights into the village's spatial organization.
