Objective: An interactive session designed to expose students to a variety of issues and interdisciplinary approaches to the study of women, war and gender, encouraging audience participation.
Brief description: The question of gender is often a vexing one that has been important in shaping human experience and culture. We will explore how gender intersects with class, ethnicity, religion, age, economics, psychology and other areas of experience.
The session will focus primarily on gender and women's issues in the modern world. In addition to references from a range of texts and sources, we will also examine representations of women and their condition in film and other media as well as in the real world to address a diverse range of topical categories and themes relating to literature, psychology and economics.
