About the Labs

The department has total 12 labs which are well equipped whose brief details are given below:

  • Basic Electrical Engineering Lab In this lab students of first year perform experiments related to topics taught in theory like superposition theorem, nortons theorem, thevenin’s theorem, open circuit and short circuit test of single phase transformers, etc.
  • Electrical Machines Lab This lab consist of number of machines like d.c. motors, shunt motors, d.c. generators, induction motors, three phase transformers, three phase alternators etc. on which students of second and third year perform experiments related to topics taught in theory.
  • Measurement & Instrumentation Lab This lab consists of experiments related to measurement like Owens bridge, Wheatstone bridge, Kelvin’s double bridge, RTD, thermocouple, thermistor, etc.
  • Networks Lab This lab consists of experiments related to topics covered in Network analysis & synthesis
  • Control System Lab This lab consists of experiments performed on control system like position controller
  • Power System Lab This lab consists of different relays like Differential relay, Overcurrent relay, Thermal relay, Instantaneous overcurrent relay, single line to ground fault analysis, three phase to ground fault analysis on which students of final year perform experiments related to topics studied in power system.
  • Power Electronics Lab This lab consists of experimental setups on which students of third year perform experiments related to topics studied in power electronics like half bridge rectifier, full bridge rectifier, half wave converter, full wave converter, inverter and as simulation experiments performed by Power Simulation software.
  • Electric Drives Lab In this lab experimental setups on which students of final year perform experiments related to topics studied in electric drives like speed control of d.c. motor, speed control of a.c. motor, etc.
  • Simulation Lab This lab basically consists of about 20 computers on which various simulation softwares like Multisim, PSIM, Dapper, LabView and MATLAB have been installed. These softwares are being used by the students of second, third and final year students for lab as well as project work.
  • Electrical Drives Lab (M.Tech) This lab has been established especially for the students of M.Tech (Power Electronics & Drives) and its consists of experimental setups for controlling various types of drives like d.c. and a.c. etc.
  • Basic Electrical Engineering Lab II – In this lab students of first year perform experiments related to topics taught in theory like superposition theorem, Norton’s theorem, Thevenin’s theorem, open circuit and short circuit test of single phase transformers, etc.
  • Microprocessor Lab This lab consists of experiments related to topics covered in Microprocessors conducted using microprocessor kits. Development of Labs.

Development of Labs In future the department is going to develop the SCADA lab and Non-Conventional Energy Resources Lab which will be utilizing equipments like Three Phase Power Analyzer, Automatic Discharge Monitoring System & Software CYMS

Program Educational Objectives

PEO1 To provide students foundation in mathematical and engineering fundamentals required to solve real world engineering problems and also to pursue research.
PEO2 To train students to work as teams to comprehend, analyse, design and create innovative concepts to adapt themselves with new technological challenges with reference to local, national and global scenario.

PO1 Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of electrical engineering problems.

PO3 Design/ Development of Solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

The graduates will be able to:

PSO1 Proficiency in mathematics, physics, engineering sciences: Apply science, engineering, mathematics through differential and integral calculus, to solve complex electrical engineering problems.
PSO2 Proficiency in technical areas of Electrical Engineering: Develop knowledge in major technical areas in electrical engineering; Analog and digital communication, network analysis and synthesis, electrical machines, power systems, embedded systems, power generation, transmission and distribution, signal processing etc.
PSO3 Proficiency in conducting experiments and analyses of data: Correlate their theoretical knowledge by performing laboratory hardware and software experiments/site investigations, and analyze/interpret the experimental results for appropriate conclusions and recommendations to a real-world Electrical engineering problem with a significant perspective of industrial, societal and real world.
